Environmental Benefits

Regardless of the advantages that, for consumers, the rational use of electric energy represents by the reduction of their payments on the electric bill, there is also a double benefit obtained for the Country.

In first place, upon fulfillment of FIDE's goals, the burning of an important volume of fuel will be avoided, which besides aiding in the conservation of non renewable natural resources, prevents the emission to the atmosphere of between 16 and 26 million tons of carbon dioxide, as a result of having avoided the burning of 46 to 70 million oil barrels.

In addition, it will be possible to differ investments in electric generating plants, worth almost $ 49,500 million pesos. Such goals imply providing substantial economic resources. Indeed, it will be necessary to increase in over 3.5 times the value reached in 2006 for investments in electric energy saving projects, to achieve a figure in the order of almost 4,500 million pesos, per year, between 2009 and 2012.

A way to partially obtain these resources is to count on international entities loans, related through the national credit organizations and endorsed by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), and in the future, the negotiation of carbon credits through the established mechanisms.
