Facing the aforementioned situation, during 1989, the Mexican Government decided to establish the National Program for Energetic Modernization, and as a consequence, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) launched the Energy Saving Program of the Electric Sector (PAESE), meanwhile the Energy Secretariat starts a series of actions that bring about the creation of the National Commission for Energy Saving (CONAE). |
In 1990, based on an initiative of the CFE, with the support of the Central Light and Power Company (LyFC), the Unique Union of Electric Workers of the Mexican Republic (SUTERM), and of the main business agencies of the country, the Private Trust Fund for Electric Energy Saving (FIDE) is constituted, as a non profit institution with the purpose of encouraging electric energy saving in industry, commerce, services, agriculture and municipalities, as well as in the national domestic sector, promoting, at the same time, the development of a culture for the rational use of this fundamental energetic. |
